What is the période de professionnalisation?

This is a combined study/on-the-job training scheme that aims to help employees to remain in employment by giving them access to training ending in certification or qualifications or that provides them with a foundation of knowledge or skills.

Who can benefit?

You can benefit from this scheme if you are in one of the following situations :
• Employee on a permanent contract
• Employee on fixed-term contract concluded with an SIAE (an organization that supports the integration of disadvantaged persons into employment)
• Employee with a permanent or fixed-term CUI (special employment contract for the disadvantaged)

 

What are the conditions?

Approval to exercise the right to a période de professionnalisation is subject to the following conditions :
• The number of employees who can be absent simultaneously: 2% of the company’s staff or two employees in the case of companies with less than 50 employees
• The decision of the OPCA (an agency that collects funds for continuing professional development) to refuse or to grant funding for all of part of the training.

How much remuneration will I receive?

• If you will be doing your training during working hours, your employer will continue to pay your wages.

• If you will be doing your training outside of working hours, your employer must provide you with a training allowance amounting to 50% of your standard net wages. Training under a période de professionnalisation scheme can take place entirely or partly outside of working hours upon initiation by you using the credit you have in your Personal Training Account (CPF) OR upon initiation by your employer, with your agreement, as part of the company’s training plan.

If the période de professionnalisation will be taking place on the basis of your Personal Training Account (CPF) or a company training plan, the procedures undertaken to exercise this right must comply with the rules that govern the different options.

  • Who funds the training?

    Tuition fees are covered by your employer and/or the OPCA (an accredited fund-collection agency) to which the company pays contributions. Registration fees and the costs related to the issuance of the degree may be payable by the student.

    The période de professionnalisation applies to the following cases in particular :
    • Job sectors that need to be enlarged or strengthened
    • Job sectors that are disappearing or changing
    • Emerging job sectors
    • Switch to a new profession
